Finding An Even Better Way To Store Energy Is Needed

Our world has gotten to a place where it is dependent totally on power. Energy is used for nearly everything from running our phones to heating our dwellings. Prior to the discovery of electrical power, light was furnished by lanterns, and heat was provided by matches and wood, without any alternatives. Inevitably, whole cities and towns could be lit up with virtually no effort on our part.

When electrical power first appeared and the gadgets that ran on them, many people could not believe in the practicality. Nowadays, we use so much electrical energy, we are running out of our resources to help provide power to them. We have been using non-renewable resources for so long, we're starting to deplete them. Power from the sun appears to be the best of the renewable energy sources and the more that is learned about it, more effective ways are being found for storing the energy. Using a conservative method to store solar power could bring about an excessive use of water and other natural resources.

A process called thermal mass systems is where solar powered energy is kept in other natural resources. Alternative sources, such as dirt and water, alongside man made resources like concrete, can be used to store the energy, even if only for a short time. Thermal mass may be utilized to heat things such as water in your house. These are good short-term solutions, but at this point there are no long-term storage capabilities for solar power. Another way to keeping heat from solar power is using thermo-chemical phase. Some these storage types include paraffin wax and Eutectic Salts.

Paraffin wax starts as a solid when cold, but when it melts from the heat, it changes to liquid and it can continue to be warm for a very long period of time. While it cools down, the paraffin wax gets hard, but it still continues to keep in the heat. A relatively inexpensive way to store heat is by using Eutectic Salts, which can uniformly distribute the heat, staying hotter for an extended time period. Solar powered energy may be stored using steam that was produced by Molten Salts. This happens as the salt mixture is heated during the time the storage container is heated up. The energy that is generated could be saved in rechargeable batteries which can be used for later. Lead acid battery is the most common battery used for this job.

Though there are many ways to save natural energy, there is still a need to have them be more efficient. Once we come across an efficient way to save energy, we will be able to have an unlimited supply of heat.
